When Dinosaurs Roamed The Earth is a book written by Pritvik Sinhadc, a 7-year-old boy from Dubai. It is his first publication. In fact, it is the first such book to be written by a seven-year-old in the UAE.

He was nine months old when his unusual interest in prehistoric creatures made his parents wonder if he was autistic. Hoping it to be a passing phase, his parents consciously tried not to take his undying and ever-increasing passion for the pre-historic world seriously.

But even before he was a year old, he started questioning about the origin of species, from where exactly life on earth began. Forced, his parents had to relent and get him books on palaeontology from various libraries and bookshops. Soon they watched their child turning into a voracious reader of research books on palaeontology and the prehistoric era.

His interest in palaeontology took extreme proportions when he started questioning and enlightening his parents, teachers and students at Dubai British School about pre-historic creatures in the Precambrian, Cambrian, Silurian, Ordovician, Devonian, Carboniferous, Permian, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. He was just three years then.

At five, his year 1 teacher was surprised by his knowledge in the “bio-mechanics” of all land, water and flying creatures in the prehistoric eras and realised that he was ‘gifted’ in palaeontology. His parents were called and made to understand that he was not autistic and instead extremely gifted in the science of palaeontology.

It was then that he was asked to teach Year 3 students on dinosaurs. Pritvik gave a presentation on dinosaurs in the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods to the class at five and since then, there has been no turning back for him.

Now 7, Pritvik Sinhadc has an unusual understanding of all prehistoric creatures, their birth, body systems, eating and behavioural patterns, and can elaborately explain the environmental and scientific reasons for their extinction and so on. When asked on this subject, he talks and delivers knowledge like an adult.

Moving on to Year 4, Pritvik is currently working on his second book on rare dinosaurs, with special emphasis on a fish and meat eater called Suchomimus and other fish- eating carnivores.

Academically a very bright student, Pritvik has topped the primary section of his school on the World Maths Day and has won the Golden Calculator Award from the World Maths Day organisers.

When Dinosaurs Roamed The Earth is an enjoyable knowledge book that explains in clear language all concepts pertaining to the bio-mechanics of these fascinating creatures.

The book has stunning visuals, with user-friendly facts on almost all major dinosaurs in the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Appealing to all ages, including both child and the youth, this is the perfect book to understand these mysterious pre-historic creatures.
